Simply search a company name (or industry) with location and companies will populate if they have an account on that social media platform. Twitter is a little more complicated.

How to use Twitter to Connect with Local Companies

MyGeoPosition.com is a great resource to find local companies near you. Here’s how. Simply type in your business address in the search box and then click the Calculate geodata button.

This will calculate the coordinates of your location. Once this populates, click on the Copy(x,y) box.

Now, login to your Twitter account and type geocode: in the search box and paste the latitude coordinates followed by a comma with mile radius. Here’s an example: geocode:35.5741360,-78.8056410,50mi

Once this populates, select Accounts and you will have the ability to follow local companies.

You can also click the More Options tab and select photos, videos, and tweets from this location.

Now, leverage the Advanced Search option. Here you will have the ability to search the following categories: Words, People, Places, and Dates. MyGeoPosition and the Advanced Search are just a couple of tips that will help your business connect with relevant local companies in your community.
