2020 is right around the corner, and we will be making our New Years’ resolutions in a few days. Most of us make resolutions to better ourselves and to even improve our situation. But don’t be so quick to move on to 2020 while kicking 2019 to the curb. So, here is some quick advice on how we all need to approach the New Year: Reflect. Remember. Recognize.
Learn to Embrace Yourself in 2020
REFLECT.
Reflect on your past experiences this year. You’re wiser than you were a year ago. Reflect on the happy and not so happy times. Some of us may have had to deal with loss, a job transition, or even a health-related issue. Your experiences and situations that you encountered in 2019 made you a stronger person. In order to appreciate the New Year, one must reflect on the events that transpired in 2019.
You make an impact on the people in your life every single day.
REMEMBER.
Remember who you interacted with throughout the year—whether they were old or new faces. It’s important to remember the good times that you spent together in 2019 with co-workers, friends, and family. Most of us have seen the classic Christmas film “It’s a Wonderful Life.” You make an impact on the people in your life every single day. Remember, you are their George Bailey in their lives.
RECOGNIZE.
Don’t compare yourself to someone else and wish that you had their situation or their life. Sometimes we fall into this trap. Instead recognize who you are and aspire to become even a better person through learning from your mistakes and experiences. Recognize your weaknesses and lean on others to help you turn them into strengths. In order to have success in life, you must experience some failure. You are the only one responsible for your path, and you alone have the will power to achieve your dreams.
So as we turn a new chapter in our lives, take the time to REFLECT, REMEMBER, & RECOGNIZE what 2019 did in your life. Learn to embrace yourself in 2020.
